Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:
This book is based on a two-hour, two-semester course especially oriented towards physics majors. Some knowledge of elementary quantum mechanics is assumed and a broad presentation of a number of fundamentals is included for the convenience of readers who have had no previous detailed experience with atomic physics. Some necessary mathematical formalism is also included in the text so as to facilitate the understanding of the work in the general literature. The English translation of the book from the successful original in German, includes several changes. The material has been substantially reorganized, the references have been greatly expanded and the conversion factors and fundamental physical constants have been revised to reflect the latest least-squares adjustment of the fundamental physical constants. Finally a table with those constants and factors which are important has been added.
Bibliography: p. 269-277. - includes index.
