Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

A textbook for a university-level course, with clearly marked sections requiring higher or lower mathematics. Primarily a revision of Wetherill's 1977 Sampling inspection and quality control, but informed by his more recent teaching in industrial contexts. A companion manual, emphasizing more practical and less theoretical aspects, is being produced. Annotation(c) 2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)

Includes bibliographical references (pages 385-391) and index.

CHOICE Review

This book is notable for its numerous "method summary" outlines of each of the major statistical tools involved. There is also an extensive selection of both worked examples and problems. Wetherill has published extensively in the statistics field and Brown is a statistical consultant in a firm (ICI) noted for its longtime use and exploitation of statistical methods. Despite the authors' statements to the contrary, this is a technical book on the statistics in statistical process control and requires considerable prior knowledge of statistics and considerable examination of the outside literature for proper use. Thus, it is recommended for upper-level undergraduate or graduate students. Industrial personnel or those without a statistical background are advised to consult any of numerous more elementary texts.-T. J. Williams, Purdue University
