CHOICE Review

An innovative approach to the treatment of occupational safety and health-in no other single text does one find such a sagacious selection of topics. Authority of authorship is clearly evidenced by the authors' abilities to compile highly legible literature on topics as diverse as ventilation/air cleaning, chemical hazards, ergonomics, ionizing radiation, and noise and vibration. Even with invited contributions from other authors, all chapters have a common format that imparts the consistency of solitary penmanship. With a higher level of literacy than Wesley E. Woodson in Human Factors Design Handbook (CH, Nov '81) or David J. Oborne in Ergonomics at Work (1982), Wadden and Scheff provide the practicing general engineer with both copious design data and comprehensible example solutions. Chapter bibliographies are ample and pertinent. Illustrations are multifarious, yet reflect excellence consistent with both print and binding. Any technical or general library should shelve this distinctive text for general reference to both the practicing and student engineer or designer.-R.E. Young, Clemson University
