If the term tour de force can be applied to a quilt-making book, this is the one deserving the label. In a celebration of traditional and modern quilts, Walker, a fine writer and quilt maker herself, traveled throughout Great Britain to visit a select group of working quilters. They freely discuss their influences, style, and choice of materials and subject matter. Each designer has unique methods of dying, fabric painting, frame making, and machine embroidery. The book offers some basic guidance, but the true purpose is to delight and inspire. ~--Iva Freeman
