Paul's introduction to the decorative designs of Louis Comfort Tiffany surveys the glass, lamps, vases, jewelry, furniture, and room settings that have made Tiffany's name synonymous with the American art nouveau movement. While Paul's text manages to skim the basic facts of her subject's career, the numerous illustrations in the book present a vivid record of Tiffany's creations. The black-and-white documentary photographs give an idea of the total scope of Tiffany's design concept in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, while the color photographs display the beautiful color and line of some of the designer's most brilliant work.
