Booklist Review

Art deco expert Duncan-- he is also the author of American Art Deco [BKL D 15 86]-- offers a concise guide to the movement as part of the World of Art series of paperback art history studies. While the book concentrates on the art deco style in the decorative and applied arts, it also investigates the movement's influence on architecture, theatrical design, painting, and sculpture. The emphasis is on European designers and artists, but American examples of the style are also given their place as part of art deco's international currency. Nicely illustrated with a large number of black-and-white and color photographs. Bibliography; index. -- John Brosnahan
