About the Authors Carol J. Maslansky, Ph.D., DABT, is an active participant in hazardous materials site investigations and remedial projects, where she is responsible for health and safety and air monitoring. As a principal of GeoEnvironmental Consultants, Inc., she works with consulting firms, major chemical and petroleum companies, and chemical interest groups on projects involving health and hazard assessments, toxicity testing, spill and health emergency response, industrial hygiene, hazard communication, and regulatory compliance. She is also the instrument specialist for the Westchester County, New York, Hazardous Materials Response Team. Steven P. Maslansky, M.S.C.E., CPG, CSS, has over 22 years of diverse experience in emergency, investigatory, and remedial response at hazardous material sites. A principal of GeoEnvironmental Consultants, Inc., he specializes in site safety and operations, and is Chief of Operations of the Westchester County, New York, Hazardous Materials Response Team. An adjunct instructor of the State University of New York and New York University, he has taught courses on environmental management and hazardous materials. The Maslanskys have provided training and consulting services to over 100 organizations in 39 states, Canada, and Great Britain.
