Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

Barry Altschul's 1980 trio (which had recorded a live set for Moers Music in 1979) consisted of trombonist Ray Anderson, bassist Mark Helias and the leader/drummer. In general, the music on this Sackville release is quite spontaneous and exploratory, but Anderson's playing sometimes hints strongly at earlier styles, particularly on "Lism" and the ballad "Irina." ~ Scott Yanow
