In December 2016, Cork Institute of Technology awarded the title of Professor to thirteen of its academic staff. As part of the process and procedures, each newly designated Professor was to deliver a public lecture. The inaugural lecture series covered topics which spanned the full range of CIT activity including leading edge research, social inclusion, student engagement, teaching & learning, the idea of a university and next generation technology.

The first lecture took place on 10 November 2017 and ran on a monthly basis for the reminder of the academic year and into the first semester of the 2018/19 academic year. The last lecture took place on 7 December 2018. Note that Professor Guillaume Huyet was on a career break and as a result did not participate in this series.
