The Norton/Grove dictionary of women composers, 1995 (Furze, Jessie (Lilian); born February 4, 1903 in Wallington, Surrey; died November 5, 1984 in Croydon; English composer and pianist; she studied at the RAM where she won the Cuthbert Nunn prize for composition; she married Willem L F. Nijhof and lived for many years in the Netherlands; as a composer, she specialized in educational music; she wrote over 250 simple piano pieces which have been used extensively by examining bodies such as the Associated Board and in music festivals; she also wrote many unison and two-part songs and made arrangments of traditional airs)
