520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. " This work looks at the subject of homelessness. It attempts to explore the psychological effects of being homeless, and also considers the impact that homelessness has on the passer-by, or individual who is still a part of mainstream society. The work seeks to provoke consideration about society s attitudes towards homelessness, and to encourage reflection about the fragility and uncertainty of human existence, and the insecurity implicit in being human. Consequences of homelessness are additionally explored, including addiction, marginalisation, and loneliness. This work seeks to express the feelings and emotions of the human state, which are often repressed or denied, in an effort to deal with anxiety and depression. Homelessness represents an extreme, in which many individuals deal with a high amount of emotional and psychological stress. The work draws on the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, who emphasised the importance of the unconscious, where repressed dreams, desires, impulses and thoughts are kept in check, but can come to the surface" - artist's statement.
